New build, recap of old build and lessons learned

For my next steps I need to setup: 1) My AWC system. My plan is to have it pull in new water, push the old water to my QT, and pull from my QT and push it down my drain. That way my param's of my QT should be really close to my display. 2) Setup my UV system. Haven't worried about this in...

    Change my sig

Yep I see it in the about me section But I don't see the pencil link to edit the sig section. I can see it and it appears I should be able to edit it.

I agree if you want to get your fish in the display just run it w/o the sump until you can get it setup the way you want.

I think two separate sumps your looking at a big mess as soon as something goes wrong. Even with DC pumps tuned so that they are returning exactly the same amount of water what happens if one fails? Or some ditrius or something obstructs the return and you get out of sync? I'm running two...

New build, recap of old build and lessons learned

I currently have the purple tang sitting in the refugium. The reason for this is I would like to add a Redsea Sailfin Tang and a Achilles Tang which I need to get and QT and don't want him setting up his territory and going crazy on the new additions. Hopefully I can pick these guys at Barrier...

New build, recap of old build and lessons learned

Wow time flies! I finally got most things up and running. All of my fish and corals have been moved out of the garage into the display tank. I got my new Sump from CFI all hooked up and about 90% of the gear up and running. I had about 3 weeks where I had the tank running off one pump and...

New build, recap of old build and lessons learned

Quick update. The cabinet is in and painted, the tank is in, the plumbing is done, the fish room "bones" are built. The sump is in and in progress of plumbing the refugium. Of course during the leak test some of my plumbing joints are not water tight so had to redo a couple of joints no big...

Opinions please. QT for new inverts?

I always QT everything. While CUC can't get Ick they can be carriers. However instead of my normal 30 day QT i usually only do 2 weeks. However you really should do 30 days to insure that your past the egg stage (tomonts) of Ick.

My marine aquarium is all setup, now what?

Congrats! I would go ahead and get yourself the rock, you can go live rock or dead there are pro's and con's to both. Then you start your cycle. You want to test your salinity (use a refractometer), and then Ammonia, Nitrate and Nitrite's. Tons of articles on this. Here is a good article on...

New build, recap of old build and lessons learned

The new tank will be located in the family room with the filtration located remotely in a portion of the garage that I will carve out a fish room. The good news is there is plenty of room in the crawl space for me to make the runs. The tank will be 65x26x30 euro-braced ~220 gallons, setup as a...

AWC = Auto Water Change. DOS is a doser from Neptune, its dual head and once you calibrate you just tell it to change 3 gallons or whatever works for you and it goes. I've been running for about 2 months now and my salinity has stayed rock solid (so no real drift for addition vs subtraction).

    Water Containers - Bellevue Area

I'm in the process of planning my new build and want to setup a new mixing station. Currently I'm using Brute 45 gallon trash cans and would like something nicer. Was wondering if anyone knew where I can obtain water storage tanks locally, looking online I've found plastic-mart.com but...
