Converting Beckett to Needle Wheel (Help)

Hello, I want to convert my MR-2 skimmer to a needle wheel skimmer. I was wondering if anyone has done this and could post some pics / instructions. Also would love some pump ideas. The more inexpensive the better. Would the Gen-X 6000 with needle wheel be a good pump for thei app...

Lets Talk About It. ~ Coral Feeding~

In most cases I dont think supplemental feeding of corals is necessary. As long as the placement of the coral is such that it meets the specific needs of each coral and our tanks can generate the supply for those needs.

    Plumbling parts

Here are some online places: http://www.savko.com/index.asp & http://www.plumbingsupply.com/pvc.html I ordered most of my plumbing supplies from savko, they have almost anything you need. I got some odds and ends from plumbing world, they seem to carry "hard to find" fittings. Home Depot...

    weird eye

Sounds like pop-eye. could have been cause by trauma to the eye. You could try to remove the fish and medicate, I read that epsom salt is a good fix, or you could just wait it out. Keep an eye on the fish to make sure no secondary infections spring up. As long as your water parameters are...

    has anyone drilled thier tank?

ahhh. Should have done my homework. Looks like back to slow and steady...and tired and aggrevated. gljjr- would have cost me about the same to get it drilled by a LFS, I just didn't think drilling myself would be as difficult as lugging a 120 to the LFS, but I was wrong. Who knew...

    has anyone drilled thier tank?

10 Minutes! I have diamond bit made for glass (seen here). Maybe I'm just going too slow, being too cautious. I'll pick back up tomorrow and kick it up a few gears. I was going to do the plywood thing, in fact I dont know why I didn't. Definitely would have made it easier to get started...

    has anyone drilled thier tank?

I have tried to up the rpms but it feels like the bit is just spinning and not really grinding away at the glass. Ill try to spin the bit faster and maybe add a little bit more pressure, thanks. ctownmangler- I didn't mean to hijak your thread or scare you away from trying to drill your tank...

    has anyone drilled thier tank?

I'm drilling right now. Glass tank, diamond drill bit. Jumping on board this thread because I must be doing something wrong. I'm drilling 4 holes in my 120 (1/2" thick). I have been drilling for 5 days now (not continuous) and have only completed 2 & 3/4 holes. I have been drilling for...

    Green Brittle Star???

GBS especially large GBS will eat fish. They will hide in the rocks where the fish sleep and pounce on them. They will do this to any fish, crab or snail they can wrap there arms around. They will mostly tank advantage of small slow moving, injured or dying/dead animals. A good way to deter...

    New Tank Set-Up

Mojo - Could you explain why 2" drains would be overkill. Noise? I though 2, 2" drains would give me a good safety net. This is my first experience with plumbing so lay it on me. The tank will be built into the wall so noise wont be a major concern. RE: the fuge: Your right, I think I will...

    New Tank Set-Up

Hello All! This is my first post here and I thought I would use it to give an overview of my tank plans and get some feedback. Backround: I setup my first reef tank about 2 years ago. I knew very little about reefkeeping, in fact it was my first dip into saltwater. It was a 120g AGA with...
