    Hi, I have a new 72.

Newly setup 72 gallon bowfront: 20 lbs. live-ish rock (was dry 2 years ago) way too much live-ish sand(40lbs of old pod infested sand, thrown on top of 100lbs of dry #5) 2 clowns a handful of hermits and Tongans snails. i upgraded/transferred from a 30 gallon cube slowly over the last week that...

    Crab/Invert Compatibility

I got a tank full of #3 CC is that too coarse for cucumbers? Nassarius Snails do fine, but it's not the finest stuff. What's the fastest moving cucumbers that be ok in about 3" of sand(I can add more too)?

    Crab/Invert Compatibility

I have a 30 gallon macroalgae tank, with the following: Spider Decorator Crab Small, 1 armed Arrow Crab 5 nassarius snails 13 blue leg hermits 1 juvi pink skunk clown I'm wanting to add another oddball invert or 2. Thinking a pistol shrimp/gobie combo or just another decorator crab if they'd...

    8 gallon temperate nano tank.

I like the idea, but I've had personally and seen from others that spray foam break/crack/unseal after a few months. Usually happens when just part of it becomes unsubmerged. Good luck.

Anyone have/use the Hydro Slim Skim (s)?

Thanks guys. I saw the small version working in a little 30ish cube(which is what i have) in southcenter over the weekend. "Looked" cute for a intank skimmer, seemed to produce decent foam and work, and was no more of an eye sore than an overflow setup. Sadly when looking for an intank skimmer...

What brand of salt do you use?

I used to appreciate Oceanic's brand of salt for mixing/dissolving faster than most of the other brands (it's a finer salt and mixes very quick like sugar). I use I/O at home because I have a ton of it from over the years...probably because of the tshirts they used to include in the buckets

    To much flow?

The object of "flow" is to have 100% of your tank's water being moved, to alleviate dead zones of no movement. Places of "low flow" or "no flow" in your tank may allow cyanobacteria or some algae to grow. Water flow can be too fast for fishes or too turbulant for certain corals or can just...

    Started my 30g "reef"

My goal is to go forever without bristleworms(HAH!). Every tank I've started before, I've used established LR or livesand, and bristleworms were inevitable(i know they're not "too bad", i just hate them, because no matter how many you take out...there will always be more). Hopefully I can...

    Starting up again.

Thanks for the suggestion on Red C, nice to see a real saltwater store this north of seattle. I ended up driving to the old locale on 175th, being sad it was out of business, look it up on phone and see that it's just a dozen blocks away...bigger and better.

    Started my 30g "reef"

Before I throw mandarins in there, I'll be sure to have a thriving pop of ampiphods/copepods, but I'm not overly concerned. I have gotten dozens of mandarins to eat frozen food in small tanks and quaratines for myself and clients, and honestly if mandarins are the dominant fish in a smaller...

    Starting up again.

Cycling. Right now it's but a tank of calcium chunks in saltwater. I should hit up the local shops in snoho for the contents of a dirty skimmer cup, or a live saltwater shrimp from the Asian market maybe.

40 gallon breeder, invert only tank is the idea. starting with dry #3 CC, old coral rocks, rinsing it in freshwater I change every couple hours. I'll have to seed the tank with something soon, ideas?
