Todd you beat me to it. :) I made it back from the frag swap and have acclaimated my wonderful pieces. All look to be doing great. Thank you all for such a wonderful event!!! It was my first one and certainly won't be my last. I can only hope that next time I can be in a position where I can...

    Pico reef?

For my pico I would say that maintence is really low. I do about a 1-2g water change every week and have an autotop off that dosses kalkwasser. Other than that I feed the corals 1-2 times a week (no fish right now). It's really pretty easy. My 29g (rest in pieces) was a lot more work to...

    Happy swapping tomorrow guys!

Even though I just lost my main tank this week, I'll be there. I only have my pico but it still has plenty of room for some nice little additions :) ...Well that is if I can offload the 15 or so Astreas and 6 or so Red Legged Hermits rescued from the other tank...

    URGENT: Unexpected water change...

Thanks all! Your recommendations worked like a charm. On the night of the disaster I was able to use a Shop Vac to suck up all the debris and a few gallons of water. Once I was able to get the floor reasonably clean, I switched to a carpet cleaner which I used to suck up about 20 more gallons...

    URGENT: Unexpected water change...

I looked at this a long time and the best guess I have is the following: 1) the structure looked like it might have pulled apart at the bottom 2) the water pressure forced the crack to expand pulling more water out 3) the flow of the water then caused the rocks to fall into the front breaking...

    URGENT: Unexpected water change...

Nope. I love this hobby too much....probably going to be my downfall... :) I have a little pico tank I started up a few months back and has been doing fantastic. I'll keep that going until I can do something else down the road. For now, my 29g (and any replacement) are out of the...

    URGENT: Unexpected water change...

OK, so it's not a water change as that indicates a two way exchange. This is more of a one way trip to disaster... I came home to my controller alarm going off and the smell of hot electrical equip. Don't ask me how it happened because I have no freaking idea. WHAT I NEED: Anyone that is in...

Current USA Sunpaq Dual LED mod [ pic heavy ]

Sorry for the delay. I use two drivers for two reasons. The first is that the Blues run at 700mA while the Whites are 1000 mA. The second is so I can dial in the color of the LEDs. Each driver can power up to 6 3W LEDs but if you try and drive the Blues off of the 100mA driver you can...

Current USA Sunpaq Dual LED mod part II

Not a problem. I'll snap a few more today. I was thining that this was going to be a realy quick mod so I was kind of rushing through the connections and forgot to snap them along the way. The ones I did get were a bit of an afterthought.

Current USA Sunpaq Dual LED mod part II

So I got to thinking that I should add more LEDs to my hood. I know, I can't leave well enough alone. Over the last month I have noticed quite a bit of growth on my SPS corals and thought maybe a bit more light would be even better... :) However I wanted this light to add more blue to the tank...

Any Reason to Run the Chiller in the Winter?

Could be. I bought an AquaLogic 1/4hp in 2004 that was used from someone on this board. I haven't done anything with it (cleaned it, etc.) since I bought it and it's been running great. My thoughts were that this thing was going to go South and I would need to buy something else but that...

    Life Span of Astreas?

When I first got them they were about the size of a dime. Over the years this guy was mistaken for a turbo a couple times. My friend thought it was a fitting name since he had grown so large. As for his age, it's been quite a few years. In fact, that one snail has outlasted every other...

Any Reason to Run the Chiller in the Winter?

Sorry. Not sure I follow... The lights are one of the sources of heat. If I leave the chiller off, my tank can easily soar to over 80F during the day. Leaving my chiller on allows me to keep a consistent +/- 1F throughout the day and night.

80 gallon tank ....will it hold these for a week

I agree. I want to believe that you came to the forums looking for assistance. In doing so I think it was pretty evident that there have been more than a few folks on this thread that have tried to offer advice and recommendations. It would just appear that either you are choosing to not...

Who is using NSW in their reef?

That sounds great... Do you deliver.? It's only a short drive to the NW for you, right? Oh and I could use a couple more mangroves too...I hear you might have one or two down in Florida. :)
