    Hello From WA state!

Figured I should post a quick update since I've now had my tank running almost 2 months. My cleaner crew has been keeping my tank exceptionally clean and all signs of aiptasia are gone...for now at least since I know those little buggers will pop up out of no where. My mom got me a torch coral...

    Hello From WA state!

Oh geez I read the article wrong!dang it! Ok I will be more careful next time. It definitely upset the fish, they were hiding the whole time and only came out when I removed the airstone. At what point do I need to take action to lower ph? I saw the ph down stuff at the store, is that something...

    Hello From WA state!

Quick question about ph: I did a 13 gal water change on Saturday morning, my ph has always been 8.2 however yesterday it was up at 8.4 maybe slightly higher but not quite 8.8, I did some reading although it was hard to understand most of the technical speak. My understanding is that ph rises due...

    Hello From WA state!

It's been so long since I've seen rock and not algae it was a nice little surprise to actually have something pretty show up. I'm surprised at how fast the snails are cleaning everything!

    Hello From WA state!

It's been a week since I brought home the 2 clown fish, I've added a cleaning crew to my tank which has been cleaning the red algae and green striny algae. When I brought home my dads rock it was all covered in algae so I couldn't seen what the rock itself looked like but now I'm seeing what I...

    Hello From WA state!

Yeah, there was so much in there I was hoping to remove and attempt to sell, I went down there with the purpose of doing the red algae treatment as well as killing off all the aiptasia I could so the rock would be sellable but now who knows if there is anything left alive, I will head down in a...

    Hello From WA state!

I'm happy to report I killed all the big aiptasia and my new peppermint shrimp have been munching away on the small ones. I got 10 snails that surprised me by eating the red algae on the rocks I brought from my dads tank. My clown fish survived me catching them and transporting them to my tank...

    Hello From WA state!

Ok so its looking like I just need to go low and slow and watch how my tank responds, I can do that. I killed the aiptaisia with aiptasia x this morning, maybe tried would be a better explanation. They are so hard to get the stuff on without having them close up or release their spores. Please...

    Hello From WA state!

Vandur as far as fish load goes, I'm very happy having small fish like bennies, gobies and dotty backs, I just done want to go overboard. What I'm reading online is 36 inches of fish for 36 gallons, but that to me seams like too much. I really just don't want to go overboard out of my own...

    Hello From WA state!

Yes I had 1 power head but it was so big that I didn't like seeing a gigantic brick in my tank, so today I picked up 2 nano sized power heads that I installed about 2 hours ago

    Hello From WA state!

Also an someone help me figure out how many fish my 36 gal tank can support? I will have 2 clown fish and I don't know what else to add, I would love to add a couple more over time but want to make sure I don't add too many. When I go into aquarium stores I see 55 gallon tanks filled with corals...

    Hello From WA state!

Drove an hour last night to my dads to get more rock, he made me take 5 pieces which I'm not sure if it was too much or not but I like the way my tank looks now. Way more caves and places to hide with enough space up top for future fish who like to swim in open water. This morning a couple of...

    Hello From WA state!

I was wondering about the Blue Hippo Tang, if memory serves correctly my dad may have had the same issues you did with them :( total bummer but i will get over it. The only wrasse Ive had experience with is a bird wrasse and we kept that in an aggressive tank with eels, triggers and angel fish...

    Hello From WA state!

wow I actually understood everything you said! Awesome! So I didn't go with deep sand, I have maybe 2 inches in the deepest spot. I got 25 lbs of the fiji rock but it looks pretty sparse. I don't know if any of the fish on my wish list are open water fish, the fish on my wish list are Orchid...

    Hello From WA state!

Ok, all of the feedback has helped me decide to head down and get rock from my dads tank. All of his rock has corals on it, and I'm not going to remove all the corals, so how much should I add to not completely throw my tank out of harmony? Also would it be good to go get some snails and hermit...

    Hello From WA state!

yes that was 5ppm on the Nitrate. I will get set up for a 5 gal change and follow your recommendation. Should the nitrates be zero also? I should do some more reading on nitrates obviously, I already figured out the nitrites and ammonia levels should always be zero, but I honestly got distracted...

    Hello From WA state!

Went down to my dads last night to figure out all he has and what I'm going to move to my tank, He has 3 different kinds of mushrooms, flower leathers, toadstool leather, kenya trees and I found 3 small rose bubble tip anemone which the clown fish were trying to rub up against even though it was...

    Hello From WA state!

Thats a really good idea, I plan to bring the biggest of my dads rose bubble tip anemones for the clown fish. The damsel has staked his claim by the heater and only leave it every now and then, so if I put the anemone on the opposite side of the tank maybe they can co exist.

    Hello From WA state!

As pretty as the Damsels are, I don't want to keep them long term. Last time I saw my dad he was very adamant that I get damsels to assist with cycling my tank in order to make sure it was all ready for his clown fish to come home to my tank. I can trade him in once I'm ready to bring the clowns...
