How do we get new people in Reef Frontiers?

This forum used to be so alive! I was on it all the time along with a bunch of others, and I loved having local get-togethers and meetings and frag swaps... I miss you all! :(

Hello, the two year algae war! Am I finally beating it?

Welcome back, thanks for sharing your tale, and good job on getting the forest tamed! :)

Skimmer, HOB filter as fuge, both or neither?

Got a bucket of Red Sea Coral Pro salt, and my Aquaclear 70 (aka mini-fuge) all ready to go. Hoping to set it all up this weekend!

Skimmer, HOB filter as fuge, both or neither?

Thanks for the suggestion. My tank is made by All Glass Aquarium about 8-10 years ago. Solid little tank, but the thought of supporting the HOB filter did cross my mind. I might make a foam-lined block of wood to put under it just in case. Don't have any desire for anything to crack or any...

    What happened to this forum?

That's a shame. I loved reef frontiers back when I was in the hobby. Got out 5 years ago (reluctantly, life got in the way); now I'm back and the first thing I checked was reef frontiers, thinking it's grown since then. Then I got all surprised that it was so inactive. But I'm not leaving :)

    Aptasia?....or something else???.....

And if you don't want it, I will gladly give it a good home in my tank! :) I live not too far from Marysville.

Skimmer, HOB filter as fuge, both or neither?

Thank you guys for the replies. Sounds like I could try it with the equipment I already have (tank, light, Aquaclear, heater). I have "dead rock" (dry rock, whatever) which I saved from my previous tank. Been dry for years and in a box. I'll give it a good bath and set it into the tank...

Skimmer, HOB filter as fuge, both or neither?

Hi all! After being out of the hobby for several years (and missing it way too much), I don't have the space to set up my lovely double-55-corner bow front again (although I did keep all the equipment because I'm sure in the future I will use it again). I decided to make a nano reef in my 7...

    Hey everyone, I'm back!

Thanks! It was surely the queen of my tank. I miss her so much!

Hoping to set up a nano reef-is 7 gallons an OK size? Only had big tanks before.

(After posting this, I realized I should have probably posted in the nano reef forum-oops!) Hi all! Several years ago I got out of the hobby for a number of reasons; I did have a couple of beautiful, healthy tanks for years prior to that. I still have all the equipment for my large tanks but...

    Hey everyone, I'm back!

Thanks all. Shannon and Lisa-I notice your thing says Lake Stevens. I live by Granite Falls. Do you ever do frag trading/sales?

    Hey everyone, I'm back!

Hi all! Some people here might still remember me from a while back, most probably don't; but I used to be a very active member of reef frontiers and had a couple of gorgeous, healthy reef tanks. But several years ago life got in the way and I had to let go of my tanks (and my beloved blue...

setting up a 7 gallon bow front-ideas welcome!

Wow. Looks like you built an apartment inside that filter! I will definitely buy one when budget allows. Just curious: do LED aquarium lights generally run on AC or DC? Our AC-powered LED Christmas lights flicker (most people don't seem to notice it, but the flickering gives me a headache...

setting up a 7 gallon bow front-ideas welcome!

Thanks for all the suggestions :). I never thought of using a HOB filter as a fuge-sounds so cool! Maybe I can have two smaller ones: one for carbon, one to use as a fuge? Would that make any sense? Should I use mechanical filtration too or not?

setting up a 7 gallon bow front-ideas welcome!

Hi all, I am breaking down my "big" setup but I just can't imagine leaving the hobby altogether. I was going to set up my 24 nano cube-that is, until I saw a nice long crack in the corner. So I gave the nano cube to a guy who has snakes and roaches, and revisited the idea of the little bow...

setting up a freshwater for my room.

Red bellied Pacus are not illegal, and they are sort of a piranha. This one I know of (who died when his tank leaked) ate bananas.
