I am looking at buying a 29g tank and go Nano with a sump roughly the same size. Most places I have spoken too about acrylic 29's are fairly expensive for the tank its self (100+ for tank only +90 (give or take) for drilled and since im poor and my wife does not like to spend money much on "trival" things) I am going to have to go Glass.

The problem comes in to play with the fact that I would like to have a drilled out tank, either in the back or in the bottom to work the over flow of this setup. I have never cut glass in my life and would like some suggestions on this matter or anyone who is willing to help or cut it for me. I just need two cuts for this tank. I have thought about doing the overflow behind the tank with the teeth cut in to the glass or part of the lip cut off so water can flow over it. I dont know how well that would hold up on that thin of glass and how well two holes drilled in the back of a tank for an overflow pipe through the rear glass would do. Again suggestions or help in this area would be very helpful.

Thanks

A few people here have drilled glass before without any problems. Does take a bit of time from what I understand because you can't drill it too quickly and have to use the right type of bit. About cutting teeth in the top, that may not work out so well, or put it this way, may be more work that what it is worth. If you are planning to drill the bottom of the tank, make sure it is not tempered or you'll be in trouble!(LOL) I would maybe pm Ron (Detri is his screen name) and see what he suggests. He built his own glass tank and from what I understand, builds them for the company he works for. Nevertheless, he will be able to steer you in the right direction. Very nice and helpful guy so no worries:) Best of luck and I hope everything works out for you:)
