400 watt?

Been awhile since ive posted.I just got a pair of 400 watt PFO mogul end MH with single PFO ballasts, 2 ballasts and lights total. So 800 watts total. My question is this, how high should i mount these?They are going over a 44" x 24" x 24" mixed reef. Another question is, would 1 be enough to light a tank this size?I have XM 20Ks in each fixture now. Also they are sitting roughly 14"-18" above the tank. Should i lower or raise them?

Do you have a Canopy?

I think you are good with the distance above the water line. You will definately need 2 for your size of tank IMO

No. I dont have a canopy. Theyre in seperate fixtures like lumen arcs. They are replacing a pair of 250w 10Ks. Way to yellow!

Hello,

I had 5 400 watt MHs above my 750 gallon 48" deep, they were 12" off surface. I would think yours are ok at that height with your tank size. That is a nice choice of bulbs

I put them over my wifes tank in her office. I had to move most of my corals into her tank from my 215g in the house because we moved. She liked the way it looked before, but then i replaced the other lights with these ones. Now, she likes it so much, i lost the corals to her and now i have to get new ones for my tank. Anybody selling any corals cheap? Lol
