I've gotten a few pm's lately concerning the rep power feature that was recently added here and I'm not 100% sure if it is something that will stick around, but nonetheless I figured I'd give you guys the scoop on it incase it does, and also show you how you would go about giving another member rep points.

So, what is the rep power all about?? Say for instance someone makes a post that you really like, find very informative etc and you just want to commend them for it, you can do so by given them some rep points. Here's how you do it...

First you click on the rep power icon found under a persons avitar as seen in the pic below on the particular post you are giving them the rep points for. It looks like a star medal.

Once you click it, a box will pop up where you can select if you approve the post and you also have the option of leaving a comment as seen below and that's it. Once you hit the "Add to reputation tab" you are finished and the person now has received their rep points from you

Ok, so now here's how to go about checking your own rep points to see who gave you some and for which posts you made. To do this, you would click on the user cp tab as seen below...

Once taken to your user cp page, just scroll to the bottom and a list of your rep points will be displayed telling you when you got them and from who as seen below.

Hope this helps clear a few things up! :)

I think it's a great thing to have to show peoples value in the community, but I fear that people will see the rep points as "buyer/seller/trader reputation" and not just the knowledgable comments that they have posted. Anybody that is a frequent contributing members will learn to take advise from a member with a high rep point value because obviously they input some knowledgable information, however a newer member might think it accounts for any personal transactions. Because of this, it may negatively/postively impact buyers/sellers/traders because of reputaion, or lack there of.

For that matter, somebody might have some amazing photos that gain a huge rep point value for them, even though they are not really sharing valuable information to the community.

Just pointing out some possible pros/cons, not trying to make it a harsh situation.:)

I wouldn't mind some rep points though!:D

I've been working overtime on this forum lately trying to repay all the knowledge that I've learned, and help that I've recieved!:)

Krish, it doesn't really matter to me either way. Some people are gonna like what you say and someone else is gonna think you are a total idiot. Thanks for letting us newbies know how it works tho, I am inclined to give you some points for your post........................................................... nah, then you'll just get a big head:D:D:D:D

Good points!! Well, this is something Scooty felt he'd add here to see how we like it in an effort to spice up things a bit. As mentioned, not sure if it will stay or what as many changes will be taking place here on the forum soon so we'll see. :)
