So I did an extensive search and found what looks to be a sponge and some pink algae of some kind. Just in this spot.

First picture is coraline algae, which is great for your tank, and usually is a sign of a well established tank and good calcium levels.
Second picture is definately a sponge, and is also great for your tank. I have lots of the same type, and it only becomes problematic if it grows on the skeleton of a stony coral. I had a little on the underside of my trachy, and it wasn't very happy about it. I scraped it off and had no worries.

Sometimes coraline can be darker or lighter when water perameters change, or when things decide to munch on it, but what that picture looks like might be cyanobacteria (commonly known as red slime). If you point flow at it or touch it, does a slimy red layer come off?

The second picture is not coraline. It has substance to it. It is slimy.

Then as I suspected, it is the red slime cyanobacteria. Suck as much out as you can, add more flow, or adjust flow so there are no dead spots. There is also a product called red slime control that I have had good success with. It's supposed to be completely reef safe, but if you overdose or use too frequently it will mess up your ph.
