I have a 350 gallon fish only tank, i currently house 2 marbled catsharks, 1 stingray, 2 volitian lion fish, 1 pink tail trigger, 1 red grouper, and my fav the achilles tang, but here recently he is not black he mainly stays a light grey color does any one know the reason for this, Stress? i have done ample research and can not find anything please help!!!! I am worried about him!

The Tangs in the Acanthurus sp. (like your Achilles Tang) are reclusive for the most part. Some individuals may vary. In your community display there is a lot of assertive kinds of fishes and the Tang is probably stressed out by them in a more or less permanent state.

Considering that the Tang should be eating a large amount of vegetables, I wonder if the other fish interfere when you put in the macro algae for the Tang? That is, part of the stress may be the fish is not finding it is getting its nutritional needs met.

I have considered that but they never bother him, he is bigger then them, they seem to just let him be, he is not being picked on that i know of and i am a tank watcher i love to just watch them, and he swims gracefully all over the tank, he just seems to remain a grey color more then a black here the past week and i am concerned... the only other fish in the tank that goes near the algae would be the trigger but not really interfearing with him eating

Provide me a list of everything you feed and how often you feed and the vitamins and fat supplements you use. Provide me the length of the fish (tip of nose to base of tail). Thanks.
