Hey Matt,

I see all too often, a new reef tank owner asks questions about care, and scratch removal. Could you shed some light on this, and perhaps post this with a sticky at the top?

I'll add a few of my tips on scratch removal-

The Novus polish kit works great on the really fine scratches. I suggest buying the 1, 2, 3 kit. If the scratches are a little bit deeper then go to Autozone or another auto parts store and buy some 800 grit, 1500 grit, and 2000 grit wet sanding sandpaper. You could also buy a rubber sanding block, but your hands will work fine too it's just a little more work. When sanding, don't use your finger tips! Use the middle portion of your fingers instead and don't press too hard. After you have worked your way up from the 800 grit to the 2000 grit, then go over it with the Novus 1,2,3 kit and follow the directions that come with it. If you do use the Novus kit then I HIGHLY suggest getting an electric buffer. Even a cheap one from Harbor Freight will work fine. You will be miserable without one, because a 1" scratch turns into a 1' portion after you wet sand!

HTH,
Kyle
