Just a head's up. Both Laird and Calsak Plastics are being forced to do inventory and anything they have been sitting on for a while they have to pay an inventory penalty on from their corporate HQ. So, they really want to get rid of the odd ball stuff, pretty much at cost!

I was at Laird today and they have 3/8 and 1/2 white cast acrylic ( Spartech Polycast and Chemcast GP ), misc 1/4" plexi, polycast and chemcast and Starboard out the cazoo. If you have a project you have been wanting to do but couldn't cough up the $250 - $500 a sheet, this is the time. The 3/8 material was going for $80, the 1/2 a few bucks more. Give them a call and see what they can do for you.

Laird: 206-623-4900

Calsak: 425-251-5400

Caksak has a lot of thinner gauge stuff they need to unload.

Just remember that there isn't any deals on clear acrylic as they have no problems selling that, it's all the special order stuff they have gotten stuck with in the last year and a half.

Sheet sizes are standard at 8' x 4', same as plywood and most sheet goods. There are a lot of over-sized sheets on the list as well. 51" x 100", 5' x 8' ect...

Just talked to Calsak and they do have some clear cast import acrylic on the sale list. 3/16" thick in 51" x 100" and a whole bunch of 5/16" thick material in 5 x 8 and 4 x 8 sheets. The 3/16 is a little thin for a lot of projects but will work well if braced properly and kept shallow ( ie... frag tanks ). I have also built a lot of snake tanks, spider, scorpion and lizard tanks out of 3/16. A 4 x 8 sheet makes a 75 gallon size snake tank.

The 5/16 is hard to tell apart from 3/8 and would work great for anyone trying to do a DIY sump, frag tank or similar project. They have 25 sheets of chem-cast ( well it will be around 10 or so after I stock up on it  ) and 35 sheets of an asian import brand that has kind of crappy paper masking, but the material is ok for import brand.

Oh, I forgot, the 3/16 is also great for making winter storm windows. I just made a bunch for a buddy of mine to insulate his sky lights in his new house.

Laird is located in south seattle off of 4th and industrial (actually on 6th and industial but easier to come down 4th - unless you take the 6th ave I-5 exit :D )

Calsak is located in Kent. Easy in and out from I-5 at the Orillo rd. exit just before south center (top of the hill) or if coming from the north, just after south center.

Give them a call for presise driving directions and to make sure they have what you want!

**** sorry Chris, been really busy this week, but I'll try to give you a call tomarrow.
