Actual lengths of T5 bulbs

Thinking of putting some T5s on a tank, but not sure if they will fit in the hood.

Does anyone know the actual lengths w/endcaps of the 36" T5 bulbs?

I may be wrong but I think 36" is the length, It should fit most hoods for a 36" tank but I would call the manufacturer to be sure or the place where you want to buy it from.

I'm almost positive they aren't actually 36" long. I have found measurements for the 24" and 48" ones (all are less than the labeled size), but haven't been able to find the lengths of the 36" ones.

I imagine it might also depend on what endcaps I use. I was planning on getting the icecap water resistant ones.

Yep I think the overall an all of these is 36" or whatever the size, with the end caps.

Well after much searching here and on RC, I found one post on RC with the answer.

39w T5s (36") are 34 1/8" with standard endcaps and 34 3/4" with waterproof endcaps.

That sounds smaller than I expected, so if anyone has actually measured them and knows differently, please let me know.

Humm, My VHO's were 60" slightly over with the end caps.
