Hi,
I currently have (2) 175watt MH pendants with XM 15k bulbs over my 55gal, about 5-6 inches off the water. I currently have lots of softies and LPS's, with one branching monti that I got from Kevin about a month ago that is doing well. I'd like to try some more SPS corals, and would love a birdsnest, but do I have enough light? If not, are there some species (other than the monti I have) that would be more suited to my lighting?
Thanks.

Birds nest needs lots of light. Although I think you would be okay if you mount the BN near the top half of your aquarium. I think you can get some monti caps i don't think they require to much light.

Hello,
Here is a picture of a 90 gallon with a single 175W halide and two 110W VHO actinic bulbs. This was from 1997 (it is the same 90 that is at the store today) It is 24" tall. It should give you some idea of what is possible.

Regards,
Kevin
