I have just learned that the people who ''moderate'' this site feel threatend at the thought that a new set up can be done without the nitro-cycle,and deleated my thread as a result. What a shame that new ideas are thought of as witch craft.Well i guess the people in charge of this site are so afraid of change in the one place that makes them gods, that any [newage] ideas are shuned. The fact still remains that the tank cycle is a fast becoming thing of the past. Can't go any further than this as im sure it will be cut of at the past before any of their sheep are allowed to see.

A "No-cycle" setup is a falsity. There will be die off and ammonia buildup initially no matter how careful you are...

not true dirt squirt my mate did this did everything almost exactly as ecobalance had discribed and we had no problem the secret is the rock when u move a tank to a bigger tank its pretty much the same thing except with less live stock
there was a post on how to do this but its missing like the last page of krish photos

Ecobalance,

I dont know exactly what post you refer to, however since I joined I have read a number of your post about tank set up. Would you consider the way you set up your tanks to be more of:

A-a new tank with out a lot of bio-diversity such as semi LR with dry sand, or B-a tank with many inhabitants, comprised mostly of fully established rock, sand etc. from one of your other systems?

One I think one would need to cycle. The other would be for the most part considered "re-homing" an aquarium.

I'm still new to this wonderful site, so as for witchcraft and the like... I won't touch that with a ten foot pole. Hope you feel better soon.

the key is to have fully cured rock when u buy it, it wont need to cycle

Not sure who deleted one of your threads, but if a moderator did it, then there must have been a reason because "mods" don't go around deleting threads just for fun. With that being said, as a result, I will have close this thread as bashing mods/RF staff is not allowed here. If you have any issues with anyone in particular, please take it up via pm and try not to bring it out in the open forum as the open forum is meant for general discussion about the hobby. No problem with us having different views here as there is more than one way to go about things in this hobby, but it is the way you go about it.

Ecobalance,

Your previous thread wasnt deleted, it was placed in a Quarentine section of the board. It was moved because of the insults and attacks contained in the thread, just like the PM you were sent about it stated.

You and anyone else here is more than welcome to disagree with me and anyone else on it or involved in the hobby at large. The purpose of this board is to share information and create discussion for the purpose of advancing this hobby.

This is a pretty relaxed board, but we do have some rules. One of which is that personal attacks and inflammatory remarks will not be tolerated.

You agree not to post or transmit any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, racially, ethnically, degrading, sexual or otherwise objectionable material of any kind, including, but not limited to, any material which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, violate the rights of others, or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national or international law.

From the User Agreement.

I suggest you re-read the User Agreement so you know exactly what the standards are, and the potential repercussions.

Personally, I welcome debate and discussion, its how things improve and evolve. But it needs to be civil. Or it will get shut down.

Feel free to start a new thread regarding your thoughts and theories of tank start up and cycling. Just be civil when you do.

Nick
