I hope everyone had a good Christmas. Here is a little "fun" I had. I was at my brothers house Christmas Eve. We were sitting around etc and he asked if I would help him a little bit. He has a creek on his land that has been damned by beavers and it was backing up and flooding a lot of his land. He gives me a shovel and I take a handgun (just in case). It takes about 30 minutes to find the damn due to all the flooding. The only way to it from where we are standing is across a 40' log that is about 6" under water. The beavers had apparently chewed this very large tree down and it had fallen across the creek and across their damn. Well I have a gun on one hip, cell phone on the other and a shovel in one hand. Know were this is going? I learned that a log under water is very slippery. I was using the shovel as a walking stick for balance but after about 10' out you could not find the bottom. Needless to say I slip. As I am falling I grab my cell and pull it off my belt. I throw the shovel and try for my gun but do not get it in time. Well creek water in December is very cold. I was able to keep my phone dry. This Christmas I learned that creek water is cold in December, and that water by a beaver damn is deep. I never touched the bottom.
