All,

I have what I think is aiptasia growing on a rock. Until recently, I had a peppermint shrimp roaming the tank (he/she has passed on) and now I find these guys. My camera sucks so I don't have any pictures (worth uploading) but these things remind of featherdusters in that they quickly withdraw if anything swims by them, etc. Do aiptasia have this behavior?

Thanks,

Ted

I was hoping for dusters.....

Thanks for the replies everybody. It's aiptasia. I accidentally killed my peppermint shrimp last month. I will probably inject saturated kalkwasser on these two but I think I better go to the LFS. I need something for the barbie...er to eat aiptasia.

hey,
the easiest way to kill aptasia is with this stuff called "joe's juice". you can find it in lfs. all you have to do is squirt it on the aptasia and watch it disapear! no injecting or anything. it is totally safe for your fish and inverts and corals. i have used it on aptasia that was growing very very close to sps and some of the stuff even got on the sps and nothing happened to the coral. good luck!

Ted - here is a great post from a the thread Let's Talk About ~Pests~ = Single Post - Aiptasia. My own experience with Joe's Juice is it worked great, but some aiptasia came back (not everyone has had that experience, however). The only luck I've had is with Peppermint Shrimp.

Good Luck, let us know how it goes! :)
