So, I'm sitting here listening to "broken glass" by The Crystal Method and toolin' around the net and I stumbled apon a new optical ceramic. For thoes non-engineer types, that means (more or less) a clear glass.

It is a ceramic derived from Aluminum, Oxygen, and Nitrogen. Anyone hear of this before? It is apparently 4 times harder (bad) and stronger (good) than glass.

mmmmm....

Surmet Engineering

and no it's not "transparent aluminum" as mentioned in Star Trek 4.

(But I'm not denying that is how I found the link   )

you know for a moment i thought that you felt alone but htat you were spelling it wrong like some dood that always miss spells hmmm hmmm .... burning  .

Maybe you should build a tank out of it

Thats the idea Krish. Although the price might be a little... whats the right word...astronomical.

that would cost 20 grand to build a 10 gallon tank ha ha ha..

chump change.

edit:

Actually it would only cost about $8700 assuming dimentions are 12*12*16.
