I'm getting .25 mg/l ammonia in the output of my RO unit, in which I recently installed a new membrane. It should be zero ! Our city is contaminating the water supply with chloramine, so I would guess that's where the ammonia is coming from. My vendor suggested that my (older) unit may have a carbon block prefilter of an older type which cannot handle chloramine, but isn't the RO membrane stage supposed to remove the ammonia ?
