Well it takes things to happen for us to come up with Ideas.

I am proposing that we all donate some money so that we can have items on hand in case of an emergency.

Let me know your thoughts!

Jeff

Makes sense to me.

The devil is in the details. What equipment should we have on hand (heaters, pumps, etc)? Where will the equipment be kept (one central location or distributed)? Who keeps track of the equipment (I know PSAS had an issue with equipment disappearing over time)?

Excellent questions Dave!

At bare minimum, I think we should have some heaters and pumps and possibly some lighting (down the road). I think that we should keep the equipment somewhere central and where ever the equipment is located, there would either be a signout sheet either hard copy or on the computer so that we can track it.

Since I am the first one with this sort of Emergency to happen to me, I will be donateing 3 200W submersable heaters to our Inventory.

Jeff

I have some spare Majanos and skimmate.

In reality, can donate any chemical balancing stuff and test kits, but the only REAL emergency items are:
spare tank for blow-out
heaters
chillers
power source
Water pumps
fish trap

OK this is a go, Jeff and I are working out the details. Thanks Dave and Mike for your input. This is one of the key features that Jeff and I had discussed in originally forming 'North Sound Reefers' as a network of support for the members. More than likely we will store/inventory items here at my place. For those of you interested in donating/loaning items please send info to me by pm to keep this thread uncluttered and focussed on opinions of the idea in general. I have several spare items as most Old Salts do to add to list as well and when completed or updated would be/could be sent by e-mail or pm to all active members. Any way lets see what everyone involved thinks about this plan.

Cheers, Todd

The 'Emergency Items List' is just one of a handfull of handfull of additions to NSR that Jeff and I are working on. We are also compiling a list of 'Workshops' for the upcoming year ranging from basic DIY's to more advanced controller/reactor/LED/reef chemistry meetings. Plus a few suprises... so stay tuned.

Cheers, Todd

All sounds great! Maybe also Todd you, our someone who's willing can keep a list of our names and numbers with location then if we need an emergency hand then they can call you and then you could give them the closest persons contact info or you call em etc, anyway I think I made that as confusing as I possibly could lol.
For example last night when Jeff realized his heater problem, he coulda called Todd, he would have looked at the list seen my info showing me in mount Vernon, give Jeff my info, Jeff called me I coulda grabbed a heater then been at Jeff's in 20 minutes with said heater, emergency solved. Make sense???
Just an idea

Well you guys I have several cheap HQI ballasts (250w). I also have some spare heaters. Let me know. Looks like I will be leaning the old garage out sooner then expected. So I will tons of stuff out there.
