Ordered my MP40 yesterday, should arrive Monday. Hopefully it's awesome and takes care of some of my flow issues. :whoo:

Well I may or may not be on the VorTech Bandwagon with you as recently picked up a great deal on a used MP40 though had to purchase a new $93 wetside. Have been very reluctant to buy one for big $'s to have it not work well on my 3/4" acrylic, have read good & bad results (noise wise). Wetside is supposed to deliver today so hopefully all works out well as could also really use the needed flow in my SPS Jungle.

Cheers, Todd

Seems like the noise is the only thing i ever hear people complain about with them. Most times it seems as though its alignment issues or sometimes a bearing. I hear they have very good customer service (for a $465 powerhead they better... hah) so that's a plus. Noise isn't a huge deal for me, between the fans and everything else it's not a super quiet tank anyways.

My koralias just don't produce the flow i need, and i get buildups all over the place in my tank even with 4 of them. Hopefully this cures that problem =) I will be making my clownfish angry this weekend though, since i need to move their home from one side of the tank to the other in preparation for the mp40's arrival.

Prepare to be bitten. They dont like having there home messed with! My maroon took a piece of my finger one day.

God i know! I got rid of my first pair cuz they were like lil piranhas in my 55. Everytime a finger went in, even on the other side, theyd go for it. As for the pumps, id like to get an mp60 on one side, a pair of mp40 on the other side and 3 mp10 on the back in a triangular shape. My pockets aint deep enough though!

Mine are the same way, i usually have to have a net or something in my other hand to run distraction while i am doing whatever it is that needs to be done.

She used to be like that, then she got flicked a couple times now she leaves me alone unless im near their house. That would be incredible to have all of those in the tank, but yes, that would require some deep pockets... Haha

I flicked mine to, kinda like a lil smack on the nose of my dog. They didnt care. I tried the net also, almost broke my glass when i snagged a rock off the top! Be careful.

i thought i was the only clown flicker here lol i used to to it to my Oscars so its almost instinct when the fish comes for my hand.

Isnt that the truth but i love my pair!! My son thinks its hilarious thst i yell at them when they attack me!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one with aggressive clown fish. Mine get a little yelling at every once in a while also, my wife usually just shakes here head at me...

Maybe I'll find some thick rubber gloves??

Its wierd to think we are SO much bigger than them, but dang it...theyre scary! Oh, im on my third pair. Ive had these ones for a couple months now, no biting so theyre safe.

I love all mine too. I wouldn't trade them for anything....well maybe the maroon one I would.
My picasso female and my black male have both bitten me too. They didnt hurt as much as the maroon bite did.

Hey Colin, do you have the MP40 installed and running yet ??? I finally received my new wet side and just now fired it up. Took a bit to get aligned and quiet as it gets... which is not very quiet... by far the loudest piece of equipment I have on entire system. Tonight will see if it passes muster with the wife since it is directly below our bedroom upstairs. I'm definitely planning on setting the Night-Mode starting this evening.
On the positive side, they do produce great flow which one should expect for the $'s. I closely inspected it (pump mechanism) in its entirety and a bit dissapointed in overall quality for the BIG $'s they sell for, there are materials other than injected plastic that could make them much more quiet especially the cheap plastic covered magnets on wet side. I'd love to see their actual materials list with pricing and component origin.

Sorry to JACK your thread here, but now that I have one would like to see any and all feed-back on VorTech lineup.

Cheers, Todd
