I have a 14 gallon BioCube that has been established for a little over a year. I have recently replaced the stock pc lights with a DIY LED kit from AquastyleOnline.com. Now I am thinking about adding a RBTA for my clowns but I'm wondering if that is a bad idea in a tank this small. What do you think?

A BTA will outgrow a tank that small quite quickly. When I purchased mine a few months ago, it was about 4 inches in diameter.... now it's a full 10-12 inches in diameter when it's expanded. Many people I've spoken to claim they will start splitting once they get to a certain size. I'm discovering that this is not necessarily the case. :) Mine continues to grow, but hasn't split yet.

Nems also need stable constant water conditions, in a 14 gal, you are going to have a very hard time keeping parameters stable, also not sure if you have enough lighting either. A lot of people think that if they split it is because everything is perfect, but it is just opposite. They tend to split when conditions are no favorable as a survival technique.

Ok, thanks for the feedback. I'll give up on plans for a nem. Maybe the clowns will eventually decide to host in my frogspawn.

That's only partially true. Splitting can be a survival technique trying to ensure some portion of the genetic code gets away from the "problem" so the species can live to split another day. They split with conditions are optimal and everything is good as well. I can assure you that they don't only split when conditions are bad.

Regardless I think you're on point in regards to tank size and an anemone. Most any anemone (except a very exotic species) will quickly outgrow that tank.

I hate to be the "party pooper" again but it's not uncommon for them to take up in a Froggy or Hammer and accidentally "Love it to death". Their soft flesh doesn't far well sometimes simply because the clown is a bit rough. The soft flesh is in very close proximity to their sharp/hard stony skeleton and many times tissue damage is a result. With any "Euphyllia" tissue damage can quickly lead to BJD which could wipe out the colony in a couple of days. I lost an entire tank of Branching Hammer coral a couple of years ago because my clown decided to take up home in it.
