Another frags propagation tank question please critique my plan
I am planning stages of a propagation setup
All the trays will be on a rack/shelf stacked on top of each other
I setup for gsp, zoos, xenia, and leathers - 2 trays
I setup for sps & lps - 3 trays
Each pan will be 12” x 48” x 8” or 10”-do you think 8” is deep enough
They will drain into different sumps
2 – 3 “of sand below the egg crate
For water movement in the sps, lps. MJ 1200 2 opposite corners
Lighting witch one? What K bulbs for the best growth
48" 260W (2x130W) Dual Strip Compact Fluorescent Light Fixture $86.00
48" 130W Uni Strip Compact Fluorescent Light Fixture $46.00
Icecap over driving n/o bulbs
Icecap with vho bulbs
Icecap with t-5 & reflectors

Thanks
Ken

way too many corals types sought/kept for such a small volume of water. Staggeringly so. You will see severely handicapped growth in corals that waste energy on chemical defense instead.

As for lighting, seek about 5-10 watts per gallon of warm daylight (CRI over 85... high PAR) per gallon of water in this shallow application.

One species at first unless you plan to do weekly 100% water changes and/or use ozone. You will see my friend. Far better growth, productivity and profits.

Would this be a more appropriate system?

Zooanthids for one separate system

Montipora for the other separate system

Would it be a problem to keep the different growth types of Montipora together, branched, plating, incrusting in one system
As far as lighting is there an ideal lighting cycle
How many hours of light should they receive to optimize growth
I really appreciate your input
Thanks
Ken
