So I added a feather duster to my tank about a week ago and yesterday all of the sudden, my clown fish decided he was not all that fond of it after all. I thought it was because it to was too close to his and his humbug friend's hole, but after moving him several times he continued to seek out and ram my feather duster. He didn't bite at it so much as head-butt it....repeatedly. I finally found a location where he just swims up to it, but doesn't attack it.......so far. I know butterfly fish will eat them, but shouldn't a clown be okay? Does mine have some unresolved issues?

My female clown did the same thing for about a mo. after I added the F-duster. she doesnt bother it any more.
Only lasted about two weeks.
Clowns are weird. LOL

Agreed, but then again, none of my fish act like they are supposed to according to books. All of my animals have funny personalities. Not sure if I find them or make them that way. I am hoping this new location does the trick. I really want to add a colored feather duster some time, but don't really want him going on another tirade. He has never cared about any of the other fish when they were added. The dotty back he would go up and look like he was telling it off (with the funny mouth movements they sometimes do) and then would swim off all leisurely. So needless to say I was surprised at the unprovoked response to the duster.

Clowns are definitely strange lil beasts, I have had my pair for about 4 years and once they started actully laying nests thier behavior went berzerk. They seem to focus on one particular coral each spawn near thier eggs and viciously attack it. Thier victim list so far is two Trachy's, two Acans, two Favia and a huge Gonipora plus several that are were severely damaged.
Good luck with your lil beasts.

Cheers, Todd
