Any suggestions on brand of hqi

Well, my light is gonna be about do in a month or 2! It's been running since oct. 08! I heard they last 8 - to a year! I'm no bulb expert but is that true? Also i'm running a 250w coralvue 20k I like dearly, but I thought id see what people are using now a days! I might be into trying something different. Any suggestions?

Go with the halmilton 14k or pheonix 14k. I like them because they have a nice hint of blue and still crisp white. You've seen my 40b under both lighting in person and 80% of my pics are under those bulbs.

:lol: your right they are very nice indeed! Those are on my list I'm unsure what i wanna lean to bro! I really would like to hear what other members are using and whats perfer'd the most! I love the blue look i tried helio's and they didnt do it for me too purple IMO! So what are you local members cookin your coral up with?

Yes, Ushio's are one of my top picks! I wish they made radium 250w de bulbs!

+1 on the phoenix HQIs, the bulb of choice for my 40b. Bulb life should be anywhere from 12-18 months. Should be able to tell it's going out based on coral coloration.

I hear ya on that PC. Your corals will tell you when it is time to replace the bulbs.

I have had stock coralife 20k 150w for nearly a year and I just put new Radium 150w 20ks in last night but they haven't turned on yet I'll let you know in a week or so what I think. The coralifes are very blue but I don't have much to compare to other than store tanks and a couple others from Reef Frontiers but those systems are running bigger and different bulbs. I think the Elos system at Barrier Reef is running the Phoenix 14k.

Thumbs down on a Krystal Star if you ever run into any of those - running one now that started out at 18K, now about 4 months in looks more like a 12K Totally lost the blue

Yah, i would love to use radium but they aren't made for de 250w!
Ive been told an suggested phoenix but from what i hear it might be to hardcore for my lumenarc mini? The light i got is already to intense, i wish they had de helios out! I'm not a fan of the se helios to purple but seeing the de in action WoW nice blue! Does anyone no where to get helio's de 250w?
