Anyone run closed loop plumbing through floor?

I am adding a CL to my 100 gal reef, but have very little room under the stand. Am considering running 2 1.5" pvc pipes through the floor into the basement so I can put the Dolphin 4700 in the basement. That would help with room and noise of the pump.

Of coarse would have ball valves and unions as needed.

See any problems with this setup?

No. Is your closed loop going to have just the one return, or are you splitting it?

I am running the return through an Oceans Motion 4 way and the suction through two 1.5"s that will "T" into the final 1 going downstairs to the pump. I will have more than enough flow for my tank I think.

Sounds like it, just depends on the flow chart for that pump.

I would make the drain larger then the return...

restricting the return size will help with pSi, which will help with flo,

2" and 1.50, Or 1.750 and 1.250 what every.....
