So I decided with the leaking tank to upgrade to a 75 gallon out of desperation and desire to get back into the hobby... I talked myself out of a canister knowing that was not the right avenue and decided to buy a HOB Octopus. My question for anyone running one of them is there a good way to get these things up and running consistantly? When I first started it up no matter what I did I could not keep from filling the collection cup within minutes I tried messing with the air for the siphon but it did very little right up to the point where it lost its prime. I messed with it for an hour last night and now can't seem to get it to foam like crazy to the point where it is going into the cup and it seems to be a flow issue? Any help is appreciated.

if its not mechanical there could be something in your water causing it to foam too much. how old is the water/ did you add anything?

Ask Jason at the vender section at RC he will get you dialed using that skimmer
It may just need to break in first:)

I have an Octopus skimmer and if yours is like mine it has a square collection cup that slides up and down. And I have to adjust it daily to get it to skim right but it works real sweet. So if you are setting it at the same place each time and it is pulling out too much water raise the cup a bit and adjust the height. I am able to control the amount of skim quite effectively but I have to pay attention each day to it. I hope that helps because I believe in my octopus skimmer:)

I have a octopus 100 HOB and I love it..it does take some time to get the right adjustment, also, it may take some time to start pulling nasties from the tank.
