Hi, I'm setting up a new acrylic tank and was wondering if some type of matt was needed to be placed between the tank and stand to insure even pressure to the bottom of the tank? The stand is a DIY and has a slight slope on one end. would hate to scrap the stand, it looks good.

I layed a piece of the stuff you use under laminate florring under my tank when I set it up just for that reason. I think you would want to have it supported well, without any big gaps when sitting on the stand empty. What I did to check for any gaps was to lay a piece of plastic on the top of the stand and sprayed it with water from a household spray bottle. Then carefully set the tank on top. You could see where there was'nt good pressure by the absence of the water spreading out, and you could see this through the bottom of the tank. Hope I explained it well...I know what I'm talking about, but never know if I paint a good picture. :D

I followed what you were saying. Another thing that works is the blue board insulation they put on the outside of houses.

I used 1/2 inch carpet padding. I know if it gets wet ill have to rip itout but so far so good. Knock on wood
