ASM Skimmer Mod

I have an ASM Skimmer and I think it is the G2 (about 6-7" diameter, Sedra 3500 pump, about 21" tall and the standpipe is 1.5")
What mods should I do? I hear the gate valvemod is easy, but what is best way for the G2? I have looked at the ASM site and it is unclear to me how to do the mod. Is there a step by step thread in the forum or somewhere online? Also what would the improvement be if I used a bigger pump (sedra 5000 or something else)?
Any comments (well almost) or help are appreciated...

i haven't done that mod with my baby g, but i did the mesh mod and it does help , before my skimmer would just get a tiny thing of gunk, now it pulls double the amount .

the gate valve mod will allow you to adjust the level of skimming alot better then you can now. you dont need any glue or anything, just the parts.
