Yep, me again! Heres my setup (not setup yet), 90gal in the living room, with 2 ARO 250w ballasat and T-5 ballast. My stand will have a sump.... So where do I keep my ballast at? There is a vent partially behind my tank, so i "could" run the ballast in the basement. But can you share some knowledge and maybe a pic or to of where your ballast are kept!

Aro makes a good ballast, If you put them with good air flow that will extend the life of any ballast. I have mine on top of the canopy, but you can mount them on the back or down under, just keep in mind splashing water & don't mount them too close to each other.

Here's a what I had to do on one of my old setup Jiddy. The ballast I had on my 75gal (first attachment) was huge (PFO Ballast to run dual 250w MH's). I had to un-fortunately think outside of the box (ha ha) and put it on the outside of my stand in the open. Didn't like it too much, but it was for the best as it got better cooling and it couldn't really fit anywhere else (LOL).

Just an idea...Sometimes you have to do what you have to. If you look closely on the right side of the tank, you will see it poking out it's head, Good luck with the new setup! :)

If you can, keep them close to the bulbs. The reason behind this is the wire insulation from the ballast to the bulbs needs to be rated at 600V min. Its expensive as far as wire goes. The wire from the outlet to the ballast can be just regular 12g or 14g.
