ballast question

is there a difference in a ballast and an electronic ballast? is there a better quality in one?

Electronic are a little more efficient, but you will never notice the difference. I prefer mag just because they're cheap and do just as good of a job.

You will notice the difference in the amount of heat is in your room. Electronic ballasts are much cooler. also they are 10% cheaper to run, so you will see the difference in your power bill also

I ran a test on a mag and also a Lumamax elec. ballast there is alot more light out put on the electric ballast also. I used one of each on my hundred gallon. had better PAr readings on the electric ballast side. cost wise Mag are cheaper performance wise IMO electronic are the way to go.
