I picked up the former "Da Cube" 30 gallon oceanic from DisturbedReefer and am now well on my way to a tank set up correctly. Which is a first for me. I just placed an order online and with the help of "UPS" in a few days will have some of my equipment.
I ordered:
a luminarc DE stealth
a 250 watt electronic HQI icecap ballast
a 12k reflux 250 watt double ended bulb
and a balck wavysea!
All should be here in a few days. I'm also picking up Todd's Tunze 9010 skimmer that should be more than sufficient for this setup.
My plan is to drive this tank with a mag 9.5 (which I already have) and use the Wavysea as the only return, and only flow in the tank. My hope is that I can stay as stealthy as possible. No powerheads or cords.
I'm bringing sand bed back! My plan is to use a fine particle sand about 1.5" deep. I also am going with minimal rock as I want to allow for open swim room, and open room for SPS growth.
I still need to build a stand, and find a 20 gallon tank for use as a sump. With the addition of some baffles, and the tunze skimmers small footprint, I hope to have enough room in the 20 for some micro algaes.
I already have some pink millie, tri-color, birdsnest, sparkler, cali tort and so on so I'm on my way to a good start, and will keep my eyes out for a cal reactor.
Pics should be coming soon, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Brett
