HELLO ALL!!

Anyone experienced folks out there willing to help a fellow reefer drill, plumb and build an internal overflow for a 55 gallon glass? PLEASE!!!

I will provide BEVERAGES (Adult) and APPITIZERS. I live in Seattle and I can I either come to your place or you can come over to mine

THANK YOU!!

I think stating what you have first and then getting a plan together with a parts list is a good way to start, I know I ended up doing alot of leg work, planning, and part ordering before I had a time to assemble. first off are you doing just an overflow or a closed loop also? how many returns ? size of pump , height of stand , do you have a sump already? also what type of overflow are you doing ?what size of bulkheads? I know there are plenty of people willing to help but it is a lot easier to talk out a plan before hand with everyones imput here, so everything is ready to go when someone comes over. I am sure you will get plenty of good imput and help

Great point. :)

At this time I have a 55 glass and I was planning on putting in a 1 1/2" bulkhead fitting in the back (rather than the bottom). I was going to drive over to McClendon’s (I had heard they have bulkhead fittings) and pick up the fittings. At that point I was also going to pick up the material for the overflow (Acrylic, cement, silicone). I am already running a sump and I was just going to re-use that.

Any help with putting this together including the drilling would truly be appreciated.

:)

I guess the main thing I would like to know is what will you be using for a pump? are you going to use an external pump? or just sit one like a powerhead in the sump? this will dictate how much other plumbing you may have to do. if you are going external your sump will need to be drilled and possibly your return into the tank also, how many returns? I had no problem drilling my glass 60 gallon sump so it is not to hard but you will also need a glass bit to drill that hole. Is this tank up and running ? or empty

All great questions. :)

In my sump I have an internal pump pushing water back into the display tank via hang over returns. I currently have a tank running, but I am replacing this with a new 55-gallon glass. The new tank is empty.

Thanks again!!
