Black marks on tang

I noticed today that my sailfin tang has some black marks on his sides. Does anyone know what these are?

They look more like an injury to me than any kind of pathogen. These fish do tend to get into scrapes now and then. Also, they aren't too smart. In an attempt to dash into a hiding place, they miscalculate and run into things or scrape themselves.

Keep an eye on it and it should repair itself soon enough, if the fish is being fed properly and properly nourished. If it gets worse, the fish's diet may need improvement and an antibiotic treatment (in a QT) may be needed.

Thank You, I have had this fish for 8 mos. and this is the first time I have noticed anything. He does zip around the tank and in and out of the rocks, in and out of the caves in the rocks, so that is probably it, a slight injury. He is a knucklehead!
