i just bought a black sun coral and wondering where to put it, i have compact flouresent lighting should i still put it in a shaded area or just low in the tank

Those are very cool I love the look of them. On the other hand they are hard to keep happy. I would put it in a place that is very easy to feed daily regardless of how much light it is getting. It will die of starvation long before the algae can get it. You have c.f. lighting so not a big problem. Good luck with it they are beautiful corals.
