I just got a killer Blasto Colony! I have a spot I would like to put it in, but its a little bright. Do you think I can work its light tolerance up to a level fit for SPS? Or will it harm the coral? I wish I could post a pic, but its too much work to figure out the posting system. Also, how often would you feed?

IME, they don't care much for high light and seem to actually melt when to close to halides. I've always kept them middle to bottom half of the tank and they seem to be pretty happy. I feed pretty dirty so they just catch a bit of whatever is blowing around, but they will usually take some food if you spot feed them every once in awhile.

Here are a couple pics:

Remember - you can't decide what is best for a specific coral. They have evolved through hundreds/thousands of years to thrive in a specific environment, and you are not going to change that in a matter of weeks/months.

Instead, put the B. merleti in a place that is at least partially shadowed.
In your tank, I would put it in the gap under your base rock. It will probably spread horizonatally to provide a nice line of colour.

Or tucked in that little cave I see in the front left of the base of the rock. Seems like it would be a lower flow area also.

It IS a beautiful piece by the way!
