my encrusting monti has started to bleach tryed moving to different locations but not working how do you frag an encrusting coral? or any other suggestions?

About the only way to frag it would be with a chisel or sharpended screw driver. Very carefully prying healthy pieces away from the rock.

Before you do that though, are you sure the coral is bleaching (what signs?) and have you tried to figure out what's causing it? Even if you frag the coral successfully, there was a reason this happened. If you do not resolve that issue, the problem will continue.

Cheers
Steve

ollie - I would definately check for the nudibranchs that jetaero posted about first. How long have you had the coral? Any changes lately to your system?

It is definitely not nudibranchs. The coral was purchased online at LiveAquaria. It was a wild coral. I've had it for about a week, it was one of four I purchased. The tank perimeters are okay. I have 250 watt halide lighting. Other sps seem fine.

sharp razor blade. I just fragged mine. it will regrow in 8-12 weeks and I now have an 8" frag to sell

people ask me why I cut it up and "ruin" it but if i didnt remove those top pieces every 5-6 months I loose the lower plates of the monti to a lack of light. Its growing like a weed.

But I don't want to hijack the thread so back to the topic.
