At present i have 2 blues and 2 whites for my lighting in my tank and i do like the blue my :?: question is would i loose any anything ie light wise if i went all blue actitic.:?: :)

What are you keeping in your tank? I'm sure it will change the spectrum available to your inhabitants.

allsorts frags anemones polps etc if it makes a big difference i won't do it just have to wait until night when i have it go down to blues only just looks really good.

You will definately loose good spectrum lighting to your inhabitants. I would stay with what you have. When figuring out your lighting they say you are not suppose to factor in the actinics. good luck and post some pics....

I agree on sticking with the 50/50 spectrum. The "whites" which are probably 10K's will provide your corals and fish with most of what they need where lighting is concerned. The actinics are mostly there to make things more applealing to the eye. If you really liked the blue look, I'd maybe setup your timers in a way that when you are home around the time you mostly view the tank, that your actinics are on alone, but would make sure that your tank still gets atleast 7-8 hours of the "white's" each day. Or...You can switch the metal halides, get some 20K bulbs that are crazy blue and be fine with providing your corals with all the light they need because of all of the usuable light a metal halide provides even in a "blue" looking spectrum:D

thanks for your imput i do have them coming on for an hour first with the blue then the last two hours with the blue just to ease down from high light to low before shut off you learn more everyday lol. some pics some a bit fuzzy sorry not david baily lol.:)
