Hi I purchased a blue damsel about 2-3 weeks ago. He is still in the quarantine but this morning when I went to go check on him he was floating in the corner. I touched him to make sure he was still alive and he was. Then after a few minutes of swimming he goes to the same corner and starts floating. Is he sick? My parameters are

Nitrates 0
Ph 7.8
Nitrites 0
Amonia 0

Would he do better in my display? Im scared that he has a disease and that he will contamanate my whole display tank? I haven't done a water change in the quarantine for about 1 month. I have just been adding distilled. Could that be a problem? Help! Please

what is the specifi gravity in your QT?? You can't just add fresh water and not check on the sg. The fish may be in an almost freshwater tank instead of a saltwater tank. The purpose of a QT is to keep incoming fish/corals etc, but it has got to be kept in as good of shape as the main tank.

Yes my specific gravity is good same as display 1.025. Should I transfer him to display or is this not a good idea because he might be sick?

I was advised to do a change of the water in my QT every other day, for what it's worth...

The filter stopped working so it was prob a lose of oxygen. So he's better now:). Thanks

for future reference, moving an already stressed fish is not a good idea. I am glad the fish is doing better but if a new fish in QT ever gets sick, moving them is a bad idea.
