And, yes, if you can stop the death, figure out what is causing it, rectify the problem, and move the brain to a nice healthy environment, it will regrow the tissue easily.

BUT - you have to stop the death before the whole colony dies, keeping it clean, giving it good flow and light, and good water conditions will do wonders.

Can you post a picture of how its dieing? That will help along with your latest test results (salinity. temp, alk, calcium, etc)

It took a while to figure out that I had cyanobacteria. This is when it started. I have the coral mid tank so it gets good light and there is good water flow. I have read that you should feed it is that true?

yup they do eat..they say that good amount of light will do but i still feed mine and never had problems with brains,i consider them easy and hardy...they are forgiving when it comes to water quality and stuff...you said you have cyano so that is probably the one that caused it or like detritus and sand,,you should always clean it like blow it off with a baster free of any stuff like sands and detritus...if its already receding then just help clean it off put it in a good flow and squirt some food like cyclopeeze on the remaining tissue...with some tlc it should come back....:)
can u post a pic?and what kind of brain?

I had this issue when I started up a new tank. I moved the brain into QT quickly after it got pissed off and it has been doing awesome since. At one point it had lost all of it's color and it literally looked dead. Barely any color at all and I couldn't even tell there was any tissue on it. In Qt I gave it consistent light and fed Oyster feast to it and it puffed up like a balloon! LOVES Ocean Nutrition Foods! I give mine Mysis every now and then and it is as happy as a clam...er..I mean a brain I guess. :p
