I just got my hatchery and eggs from brineshrimpdirect.com. Its the 2L bottle stand thing. My problem/question is, how do you get your temp up in it? Mine stays right around 74*, which I know is okay, it will just take longer to hatch? This thing looks a little small to have a heater in it.

Also, do I need to top off the water in it at all to keep the SG the same? It looks like it might have evap'd some...

Raising temperature can be as simple as having a light bulb close enough to the hatcher to keep the temp at around 80F.
Personally I don't see any problem with the lower temps as the cysts hatch out over a period of time, not all at once, so I can remove some in several to many separate stages, using them as soon as they are hatched before the egg sack starts being consumed too much.

Are you using the hatchery disk? If so, don't worry about the temp. What they say is fine is really fine. They will hatch in less than 24hrs. I would also guarantee it (if we're talking about the disk).

Agreed the disk is the greatest little invention for hatching brine. Just throw in decapsulated brine and wait. You can just use tank water, hatch a few thousand and dump the whole thing into the tank or strain through a net. Refill and do it again and again. No need to worry if you go on vacation or no need for a air pump.
