So finally after a month or so I have the tank up and runnning. Now comes the crappy part waiting until the cycle processes. But I'm stoked with how its turned out and how much I have spent. As for cost I didn't want to break the bank but I did want something I would like with no regrets and something that I can make into a quality showpiece.

Cost of setup so far
1. New Oceanic 57g Rimless $315 dealers cost
2. Stand built buy me and in the DIY forum $110
3. Nearly New 3HRS of use Current 20" 250w MH with 3 and 3 LEDS $175
4. Used but mint condition and modded Reef Octopus Skimmer $75
5. Used DIY 20g tall sump $40
6. New Mag drive 12 return pump $50 "score"
7. New Ecotech MP20 $250
8. Used haha 48lbs of Live rock with 50lbs of live sand $160
9. New 12" light hangers $7
10. Used Ebo Jager heater $free
11. Time $Priceless

So on with the pics. I think I am going to add another 10-15 pounds of live rock in the middle but no more. I like the open look. Plus once I start doing corals and clams I will have plenty of space for them to grow in. Also I will be odering the doors for the cabinet this monday.

So let me know what you guys think and how my first SW tank came out. Any advice on how long the cycle process may take "ball Park" the LR and LS was straight from another members tank.

Looks great for a first time tank. If the rock came from another persons tank and was kept live then you should have a pretty quick cycle. Just test your parameters or go down to a lfs and get a water test done to see where your tank is at.

Looks great! I personally would leave the aqua scape i love the 2 island look going on.

Well I just went to BR and had the water tested " Amazing people by the way, extremly nice and helpful" and all is good accept my Phospate right now but it was safe enough to add a fish. I wanted a reef safe fish so I added in a purple firefish. I really like the colors and it's not all that expensive and hardy. I really have become overwhelmed with corals and plan on going LPS and clams so I am only looking to get RS fish for now. My Cal and MG were low so I bought some buffers to bring it up and hopefully by next trip I can put in a LPS or two. It's funny though I can't beleive how many fish are not RS and how many other LFS will sell you anything saying "yeah it will work" HAHA
