I want to do a "built-in" aquarium look with two existing base cabinets. The issue I have is one cabinet is too small for me to fit the refugium / sump volume that I want. And cutting out the middle between the two cabinets would severely weaken the structure. So I'm thinking of doing a sump with a separate refugium. The problem I'm running into is the return from the refugium. My current design calls for me putting in a bulkhead in the lower sides of both the sump and the refugium but not sure how great that would work. I've attached a diagram that I pulled together any feedback or alternative designs?

Thanks!

I think that would work ok except it looks like the fuge will just get the same water over and over from the sump, instead of a seperate pump why not just T the return line and put a ball valve on it?

Thanks Sasquatch. I put the pump for the refugium right next to the drain from it in the diagram but I would place it closer to the protein skimmer in real life. Although your idea of the ball valve seems like a good idea.
