there are a bunch stuck to the side of the glass about the size of a pencil lead

hydrozoids or something like that i think. Urs look like the free swimming type. Not the colonial.

so after doing some research I found out they are a type of jelly fish called Staurocladia oahuensis was wondering if anyone knew what the other things in the picture are they have little antennas and a tail and move around pretty fast
 
It's the third type of pod - copepod!

Check out the copepods in the bottom corners of this print:

p.s. Ernst Haeckel was a German biologist who drew beautiful illustrations of all kinds of things. Plants, birds, copepods... Beautiful drawings, but it turns out he didn't have a very high regard for perfect accuracy - he did a lot of embellishing in his art, so the real things don't look quite like these :biggrin:
