I can't keep purple or green colors .
My tank has experienced this problem since I started using Zeovit three years ago. I have not used the Zeovit method now for over a year. Every purple colored coral turns a washed out lavender color and greens turn tan. My blue and pink colored corals are looking fantastic. Here are my tank parameters:
salinity- 1.0252 (Pinpoint)(Seachem marine salt)
alk- 9.5 dkh (api)
calcium 460 (api)
temp 79 (Reefkeeper 2)
NO3- 0 (Salifert)
PO4 .03 (Hanna)
MG- 1420 (Salifert)
ph- 8.27 (Reefkeeper 2)
K- 300 (RE)
Skimmer is a 12 inch ER RC. I use carbon and iron phosphate remover in a kent filter. Calcium and alk are maintained by a Geo calcium reactor.
This is driving me crazy. I have 14 fish 3 ocellaris, 2 purple tangs, 5 threadfin cardinals, and 4 yellowtail damsels. I feed heavily mysis, cyclopeeze, golden pearls, etc. Lighting is from 2-250 watt 20k Helios on a lightrail 3. I have also tried phoenix14k, xm 20k, aquaconnect 14k, ab 10k and 400watt xm 20k. Results are the same regardless of light. I have played around with photoperiod too anywhere between 6 and 12 hours. Blue and pink colors are better with 12 hour period. All the corals look very healthy. Why do my blues and pinks pop and purple and green flop?
