I have a green carpet anemone and Three weeks ago it got a half-dollar size discoloration where it looks brown, now its almost half of his body...Anyone heard of this happening?????

Sounds like it could be an overpopulation of Zooanthella. This could be caused by lighting issues. How long have you had this anemone? Any recent changes to the tank or lighting?

What type of lighting do you have and how old are your bulbs?
What are all your tank parameters?
Tank mates?

Sid, is there a way to regain the color in a carpet? I also have one that turned brown, I just thought it had been dyed.

Probably the same questions apply - what kind of lights are you running? Are they good enough, can the anemone get light..

Also, are you feeding it good vitamin enriched fatty foods or just filler? Do you feed it?

I thank you for your help it must be my lights. I have not changed my halide bulbs in two years and the marine glo went out for 2 months before I replaced it... Parameters and flow are good , I feed it frozen shrimp and prawn as well as fresh?

You can do it a couple of different ways.

You can raise the lighting higher above the tank, and lower it a little bit at a time, over a period of a week or two.

Or you can cover the tank with screen material, in several layers, and remove a layer every few days, for a period of a week or two.

This would allow your tank creatures to slowly acclimate from the degraded light they're experiencing now, to the new bulbs, which will be of higher intensity.
