Seems no one has the answer. You can send a PM to Krisfal. Shes keeps seahorses and may have the answer your looking for

Yes you can use chemiclean red slime remover in a tank with inverts and seahorses. Cant really tell from the pics, but that doesnt look like red slime.

That's why I asked for an Id before doing it. I don't think it is ether. It's wierd, it's hard. Unless that cyno does that if not delt with in time or something. I guess that I can always try to do it? And see what happens. This is the only post that I have had a hard time getting any answer on. I have not found this algae on any of the id threads.

No cyano does not get hard. It looks like an agressive algae though. If it is the same thing I had in my 75, it will cover everything. What I had finally died off and the rock is beautiful now. I dont know if it was just letting it run its course or the phosban reactor that caused it to died off but it finally did. It should not hurt the seahorses. Maybe lights out for a while and more frequent water changes will help.

Is it all over, or just a couple rocks?

All over. And it looks like it might be starting to go. Yesterday I ended up doing a chemiclean dose. Well see...

i think the use of chemicals in general is just not a good idea...
you shouldn't have to period

clean fresh water for make up. and nice water changes are you friends...
