Clicking Sound at Night???

Lately I occassionally hear a clicking sound coming from my display tank--only after lights out. I don't own a snapping shrimp--unless it was a hitchhiker on my LR. Any ideas on what could be causing this noise?? It's driving me nuts!

Could be a mantis or pistol shrimp. I've had a pistol shrimp in my reef for about a year and they do no harm. A mantis on the other hand can kill and eat snails among other things. Are you finding any broken shells in the tank?

No broken shells...God--I hope I don't have a Mantis shrimp! Are they active at night?

Ive had an unkown clicker in my tank for about 6 months. After a few months of my cleaning crew not seeming to shrink in size I decided it had to be a pistol shrimp and stopped carring. Last night I finally saw the little guy who was making all the noise. He was less then an inch long lol...
