Does anyone have any ideas for a closed loop system for a non-drilled 72 gallon tank? I have a little giant pump that I was considering for this that's rated at 1100 gph. Is that too much? Any diagrams would be useful or if someone knows of a link that would help too.
Thanks in advance.

another CL w/SCWD design...

This one is from MELEV's reef site... (maybe the last reply link ends up taking you here too, I didn't read it all - if so, sorry for redundancy). http://www.melevsreef.com/closedloop.html

Another suggestion is as Mike (Mojoreef) to help you design one - he is the MASTER!
Good luck.

I really like the scwd design that is linked by flip360. Sea swirls are definately another nice option for movement. What do you have in the tank (or are planning for) - type of substrate and corals?

closed loop

Great ideas and the one witht he scwd looks like it might work for me. No drilling involved. The only concern that I have is the size of the pump. This is the little giant 3-mdqx-sc (I think) rated at 1100 gph. Is this too much pump for what I want? I have a dsb system with softies and a few lps corals.

After you subtract the head loss and the loss created from the SCWD i dont think it will be to much flow but im sure it will take some adjusting so it wont be too disruptive for the softies and sand bed.
